Learn With Confidence
Located in Portland Oregon, Mah Jongg With Monet caters to both small private groups and larger club organizations. I conduct scheduled classes and drop in play as well as private teaching and coaching sessions.I LOVE sharing the joy of this incredible and complex game.
Intro Mah Jongg
In my intro class, you will learn the tiles, the card, and how to play American Mah Jongg per the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules. My classes are fun, thorough, and designed to demystify this incredible game so you can become a proficient player.
The max class size is 12, so there is plenty of attention to each student and time for questions.
Classes can be taught in two 4-hour sessions or four 2-hour sessions.
I offer group rates, so the more the maj merrier!
Strategy
In this class, you will build on your basics and learn tips to improve your game. We wade into advanced gameplay techniques and a deeper dive into the card to increase your confidence and skills. Every spring, we discuss the new card and ways to become a shark at the table!
The maximum class size is 14, which provides plenty of time for students' questions.
Classes are 2 hours.
I offer group rates, so let's get more "sharks" in the water!
Coaching Sessions
My coaching sessions are a great way to increase your confidence in your gameplay. These are hands-on gameplay sessions, so you must have completed the intro class to participate. In my coaching sessions, you will have me as a sounding board for any and all game-related questions and suggestions.Â
These sessions are great for increasing your speed through the Charleston, learning how to pivot, and any technical game play questions.Â
The class max is 8, so there is plenty of one-on-one attention for each player.
These sessions are 3 hours long.

Special Summer Series
Looking for an indoor activity when it's too wet for a hike? You've come to the right place! These are my intro classes offered midweek during the winter only! It's like summer camp for adults!!! Learn this incredible game during the winter and be ready to win when it's warm enough to play outside on the deck!
